I meant that if the battery ends up not working soon I'll chalk the loss up to experience and try the next-cheapest battery, possibly from the vendor from whom I bought the previous battery - rather than take it to a professional to diagnose or return it to the vendor.

In addition to not-reporting its status it claims it's designed to deliver 5.2 amp-hours but the first full charge was about 4.2 and it's been decreasing every charge, so it may not last long.

I'm talking about the contents of /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/status. Previous batteries, and yours, have always reported something, usually 'charging' or 'discharging' or 'fully charged'.

It seems that the battery's firmware doesn't know how to handle the case of the charge being less than 100% but not charging (The battery only charges when its charge drops below something like 95%). Right now it's 102% charged (the charge is higher than full charge). It would seem that the firmware has bugs.
