Hi,

Again I have a small problem with a Toshiba tecra 8000 running slackware 10.0 with 2.4.26 kernel. First the battery wasn't detected (solved that) and now the following annoying problem has emerged:
APM support is compiled into the kernel, ACPI is not. When I work on battery power, the power level eventually becomes so low that I need to plug in the AC adapter. Normally this is not a problem, but from the moment the adapter is plugged in untill the battery is completely recharged the fan is activated and runs at full power (i.e. independant of cpu activity). When the battery is fully recharged the fan stops and operates normally again (i.e. fan activity is directly related to cpu activity).
What makes the fan stay on? How can I make it stop?! Any help much appreciated.

I have the exact same model that i have been dealing with for about a year.

I used to run windows on it but switched to linux.

under windows it did the same thing, so i dont think its an actual problem.

it probably helps with heat dissipation from recharging the battery
