Synaptics Touchpad Errors
I have an HP Pavilion dv5000 with a Synaptics Touchpad. I am using the Dapper version of Ubuntu, and the linux synaptics driver. On occasion, my touchpad fails to work. I will be able to move the cursor around, I am unable to click on anything. I have tried different synaptics drivers, different xorg.conf files, and different boot parameters ("i8042.nomux", "psmouse.proto=imps", etc.) I cannot solve the problem, and I'm becoming more frustrated because at certain meetings for work, I am unable to use my USB mouse (which works perfectly, by the way).
This is the dmesg that appears before and while the touchpad is acting funny:
[ 1630.640786] psmouse.c: TouchPad at isa0060/serio4/input0 lost sync at byte 4

Can anyone help me?
