Suspend/Hibernate in Fedora/Suse

I am running Fedora and Suse on my laptop(Toshiba). Both of them are showing ACPI on(Suse has default on and Fedora I have added acpi=on in grub.conf) But I am not able to hiberate/Suspend/Standby in both. I have tried swsuspend but it does not install on my systems. It does not patches to these systems.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or are there any alternatives to it.
