Suse + sony ericsson k700i mobile phone(using multisync eg)

I recently bough myself a Suse 9.1 dvd and a Sony Ericsson K700i mobile phone.
Now i like to sync some data with my pc and my phone (like photo's, contacts, games, themes etc.)
but i can't figure out how. I read something about multisync but i can't make it find my phone.
My phone is connected with a "USB-To-Serial Cable" as discribed on the back of the packages. Anyway it's ported in my phone and a free usb-slot.
I tried all /dev/TTS* and /dev/TTUSB* devices. Pleas help

Hi,

you might consider buying a Bluetooth adapter. I've just synchronized my K700i contacts with Ximian Evolution using multisync. Multisync didn't have any problems finding my K700i. Sending/receiving files also works fine with kbluetooth. Using Bluetooth might just actually save you some trouble here, espically as the adapters go for a fairly reasonable price. (Besides, it's cool!) My setup is Suse 9.1, Dell 510m with built-in Bluetooth adapter and a SonyEricsson K700i.

Bluetooth is not an option for me. I do have the usb cradle which should work.
Howerver i tried multisync but without succes. The main thing i like to do is browse my photos and videos.
How do i find out what ports is right with multisync or what ever? I know there is a test option, but in my /dev/ are 8789xxx many files. If i know what port is right, maybe using wine/vmware i could use it ?

Hello cha7429,

even 2 years later ... browsing these and other forums, one comes to realize that ALMOST NOBODY can really sync his phones calendar and address book with anything under linux.

If you have achieved some success here, would you please be so kind and share some of your knowledge with us here ?

Multisync doesn't even list any Motorola as supported (at least at http://www.multisync.org/index.php?page=devices)
and the wiki consists of only a handful of pages.

Do you have a Howto, manual or instructions that you followed ? Or could you provide some of your own ? (for example, in the multisync wiki,
and post a pointer here ?

Thanks and Cheers,
Tom.

Cool

Hi Tom,

sorry, due to font issues I gave up completely on Linux and do not have my configuration stored. However, I cannot recall doing any extensive configuration - I guess it should work fairly easy now as well as then. Good luck in synching!

Chris
