Angry Suse 9.2 Zoom 3075 pc card help

I have an hp4560 us laptop and have tried everything in order to get my pcmcia modem to work. I had it at one time solely by accident.
At boot my machine hangs and say's blah blah cardbus: serial or modem.
If i insert the card at run time it just locks up the machine.
I'm just beyond a newbie and I did get my broadcom wlan going last nite!

I've got it working, by installing dev/modem.
On boot it fails with the error cardbus 338X : serial or modem
Any suggestions?
