first things first:
I used to work with windows for about 10 years now (95,98,y2k,me,xp) and I really got the hang of it now, let's say I'm quite good in solving problems in windows, and windows related stuff, I wrote programs in visual basic that were pretty good. But after these ten years, It got boring, there were almost no surprises anymore, nothing new... So I decided to check what that Linux OS was and after a little searching i came on suse, allright, let's install, and now I'm here suse 9.1 personal running well... on the outside, but the problems are rising... and that's why I need your help, but please note: I know a lot in windows, but almost nothing in Linux, and I really mean nothing... So please be patient
also, I live in belgium and I'm not used to speak / write English, but I do my best to be as understandable as possible. thx for your patience again
here are my problems:
I can't install programs, I achieved to install 1 program, and that was openoffice.org.
I think it has something to do with the GCC libraries, but if I install them with yast, nothing changes.
when I try to install a program (or I guess I'm compiling the source when I use ./configure ?) I get this error:
----------------------------------------------------------------
kristof@linux:~/downloads/foobillard-3.0a> ./configure

I also can't change my screen resolution to 1280*1024, although my screen and graphics cart supports it :s
Installing the graphics card is a problem also, please help me.
thx in advance
