Strange: Can only control volume using headphone slider
This is a strange problem. I can only control the volume on my laptop (acer aspire 3005) using the headphone slider in the soundmixer. I configured alsa (numerous times) it sees my sound card (intel8x0 sis sound controller)I am using Xandros 3.
Anyone have this problem and find a solution. It is quite annoying.

In KDE you can right click the volume control and choose the master channel. My system at work did the same thing until I switched the master channel to PCM.

As of 2.6.15 this issue has been fixed...check if theres a upgrade for your distro or compile your own

Is the the kernel itself or alsa? When I upgraded to X4 with alsa 1.0.11 it is fixed. I can use both the slider and the keyboard to control sound. I need though to remove X4 for it just is not yet up to par with X3.
