Unhappy startx causes console not to work!

Hi,
I am using debian. After last upgrade I got some problems:
now when I start X server all consoles only displays strange flashing character
having green background colors.
When I want to close X session all consoles continue to show such characters
and are unusable.
Am using Debian/sid on Toshiba Satellite M30 with nvidia Fx 5200.
Any hints!?
I don't know any way to solve it!

Please help me!

Paolo
