Speakers and Trackpad not Working with Fresh Linux Mint 18 Cinammon 64 bit

Hi,

I decided to switch to Linux Mint from Windows. I got a new HD put into my laptop and installed Linux Mint 18 Cinammon clean.

The speakers don't work but my headphones do. Also, the track pad doesn't work. I would prefer not to go back to windows, but I need these to work.

I have an Acer Aspire E14 series - E5 411G P3GH

It seems like the software is installed but it just isn't working for some reason.

Any advice?

I am a newbie so you need to spell it out.

Thanks

G

Open up Pulse Audio audio control. There should be an output tab. Click it, and there should be a drop down box that allows you to select the device, speakers or head phones. Select speakers, and make sure the volume is turned up.

For trackpad info. Open a terminal and see what

Code:
dmseg | tail
might mention on why your mouse is not working. For info purposes

Code:
inxi -Fxx
post that readout in your thread using the code tags <hash mark in advanced reply tool bar> so members can see your hardware info.
Just copy and paste between the code tags in next reply. Also you can use code tags for any messages dmesg may have relating to your mouse/trackpad.

Look through this LINK for any answers that may help resolving your trackpad issue also.

Hello and welcome to the forum

In addition to the suggestions/requests above, please open a terminal and post (by copying and pasting) the results of these commands...

Code:
lspci -nnk | grep -i -A7 audio
Code:
lsmod | grep snd
Code:
aplay -l
Also, if you could upload a screenshot (using the attach Files" feature under "Additional Options below the box you write you post in) of this command, that would be great...

Code:
alsamixer
Regards...
