Sound problem in hp compaq nx9040
 

i am using hp compaq nx 9040 laptop.. it actually contain windows xp prof.. now i installed the fedora core 5.. it is installed.. but i could not get the sound while playing an audio cd...

i tried to detect the sound driver, then it was detected and shown like below..

intel corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller.
Module snd-intel 8x0

But i tried to play the test sound.. it goes to struck...

have any solution for this ?

Can you give in detail what you mean by .. it goes to struck...

Try playing a wav file (from a CD) and open a terminal/Konsole and type:

$ alsamixer
and raise the values in the different options.

Check linux-laptop.net to see if your model has similar issues.
