sound on ASUS S5N with Fedora 2
I've upgraded from Fedora 1 to Fedora 2 on this device and have had many problems apparently because modules.conf wasn't properly updated and I've had to figure it all out item by item. I've managed to get my NIC, wireless and mice working. I'm now working on sound. I've figured out that
modprobe snd-intel8x0
will load (some of?) the right modules. And I can get sound applications to work as root, but not
as a user; for example alsamixer produces
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: Permission denied
But the problem is *not* the permissions on /dev/mixer etc. Even at 777, users can't use sound applications but root can. Am I missing something else in my modules.conf?
