sound on a medion MD 96706 (akoya)

Hi,

I recently bought a medion MD 96706 laptop, and quickly installed Ubuntu 8.04 on it next to Vista.

First of all, Ubuntu runs great on this computer - on my old computer the graphics card was not very good, so I'm experiencing the desktop graphics goodies for the first time! Love it!

I'm having trouble getting my webcam and soundcard to work; tried to find drivers on internet, but so far without luck. In fact I am not even sure which devices are installed, can't find a suppliers name. The drivers under Vista are from Microsoft...

Anyone else had more luck getting the devices to work, with or without other drivers?? Please let me know.

Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know this device, try google ...
keyword ... intel 82801H audio linux

http://hardware4linux.info/module/HDA_Intel/
http://hardware4linux.info/component/14058/

Make sure to use the “HD Audio” setting in the BIOS setup for onboard audio, and NOT “AC97”, or you’ll get some funny results.
And find some other comments, e.g. try 'alsaconfig' etc.

If you find no solution, just start a new thread,
headline : "Intel 82801H audio Ubuntu 8.04"
or something like that.

Good Luck.
