Sound is not working ubuntu


i am a new penguen
i just start to use Linux ,i delete my windows and i installed ubuntu ,i have sound problem i thing it is just a driver problem
my sound card is soundmax integrated digital aAC'97 Audio Controllerudio
and it is not working ...
could anyone help me with that problem please....

run
$sudo alsaconf

follow the instructions, hopefully that's all you need.

i tried what you said
but it doesnt work
and output is like that

sarper@ubuntu:~$ sudo alsaconf
[sudo] password for sarper:
sudo: alsaconf: command not found
sarper@ubuntu:~$
sarper@ubuntu:~$

sarper@ubuntu:~$ sudo al
alacarte alias alsa alsactl alsamixer
sarper@ubuntu:~$ sudo al

As for why you can't find alsaconf:

In searching for info. re. missing alsaconf, I found this, a comprehensive guide to audio problems in Ubuntu, which i thought you may find helpful:
