sound in a compaq r3000T
 

Hi guys


I am trying to configure sound on a Compaq R3000T. For company reasons
I have to use Redhat 9, so I compiled a kernel 2.4.29, so far everything works
except the sound. ALSA detects a atiixp soundcard (soundmax I guess),
but when it tried to load
the modules, the whole system freezes?!, not even sshd accept request.
I tried by hand but I got the same problem. Any help??
