Sony with Intel 815 won't turn off screen backlight

I can't turn off the LCD backlight on my Sony PCG-FX150. I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.04 but Fedora 14 has the same issue.
Code:
xset dpms force off'
turns off the display but the backlight stays on. I can adjust the brightness with Fn+F5/F6 but can't turn it off. Windows has no problems with it.

Thanks,
Chris

Make sure to have the 'sony-laptop' module inserted. See:

http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentat...ony-laptop.txt

on how to use it.

Also, DPMS should be enabled in xorg.conf if you want the screen to turn off.
