Wireless is working perfectly on my Vaio VGN-FS215B with SuSE 10.0, better in fact than from Windows XP on another partition on the same machine. However I don't think (can't quite remember this bit) it worked properly before I did updates. But after I updated (using the ethernet connection to my router) not only did the wireless work, but I managed to get WPA encryption working. I didn't have to fiddle at all. I just put all the settings in YaST and it worked first time. That's a first for me. I wish I could do the same with my desktop. It might have been a new kernel that did the trick - I don't know. I just accepted all the recommended updates. There were a lot.
My machine has the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG chipset. I think it's also called Centrino. What wireless chipset does yours have? If you don't know, YaST/Network Card will tell you.
