sony pcg505tx superslim


anybody know how to run linux on sony superslim. pentium 300mhz 128mb ram? cool old notebook originally win 98. like to get going again. thanks

It appears that this netbook does not have a CDROM drive which makes it a tad difficult to install anything new including those distributions made for older computers. If you have a USB drive then you could use a floppy plop disk to boot an install CD. The other option would be to remove the drive and install via another computer. antix or tinycore are two distributions for older computers. For other ideas you can look at http://www.distrowatch.com and search for distribution for older computers.

cd rom sony pgc505 superslim

this computer does have a pcia eternal cd rom. i don't know if that will work. it does not show usb in boot order, also usb is 1.1, thanks

Ok.
Smart boot manager is another option. I believe it has a floppy image that will boot a PCMCIA CDROM.
