Slow boot time on Acer Aspire One Netbook

Hey People

I just got a Acer Aspire one with 1GB ram and a 8GB SSD.
I installed ubuntu netbook remix which is suppose to boot in 20-40 secs. But my boot times is about 100 secs. Not a big deal but whats the point of running a SSD drive if it boots just as fast as a conventional drive. Any Ideas on how i can speed up my boot up?

A good-quality SSD costs more than an entire netbook.

Most netbooks use slow, inexpensive SSD's. When you see articles claiming that SSD's are faster than conventional hard drives, they are not talking about netbooks.

The advantage of using an SSD in a netbook is that it has no moving parts (and is therefore more durable on the go) and lower power consumption.

I think it's true what snowpine say about slow, inexpensive SSDs, so don't expect miracles -- but you should try install the latest beta-version of Lucid Lynx (10.04).

Earlier version have also been said to be "much faster" than the previous version, but with 10.04 it is first time I really notis the difference.

My Acer Aspire One boot in less than 25 seconds from power-on to "everything ready".
