Unhappy Slackware 10.2 on Inspiron 6000, can't get sata, wireless, etc working, IRQ issues

Hey guys~

Allright so I've got myself a brand new Inspiron 6000 from dell....and installed slackware 10.2.. using the default 2.4.31 kernel. However, apparently this laptop has a SATA controller... which isn't being detected/used right... getting very slow hd access....
also the wireless card needs the ipw2200 in order to work, and that only works on a 2.6 kernel.
So i set to installing the slackware's 2.6 kernel... but it boots up with all sorts of irq errors, then crashing right after it enables 00:03:01:00[a] which corresponds to the cardbus bridge in lspci..... which i apologize i can't share due to lack of wireless connection, i'm using friend's computer for this, but i'll see what i can do regarding gettings lspci -vv, and the errors from trying to boot 2.6.
I then installed the 2.6 source and tried compiling my own kernel... which went well, except i'm getting exactly the same problems. I also tried something i read abt enabling ATA and PATA in libata.h... but those didn't do anything either.
The kernel source i tried was 2.6.13.....
well if any more information is needed let me kno i'll do my best to provide it, and thanx in advance for any insight.

Also i tried booting the 2.6 kernel with acpi=off, pci=routeirq, pci=biosirq, pci=pirqmask, etc... none of which worked. I'm rather confused and would greatly appreciate some help.... i just want my laptop to run slack, instead of the MCE it came with. Thanx again

if you want wireless to work, read ALL the Readmes on the drivers, you need to compile the kernel with specific options. mainly the wep algorithms and not included is the 80211 stack.

errr, i don't remember it all, but it's not that hard. just read up
