Screen Resolution Problem
Hello
I've bought a Vaio VGN-FW12G few days ago. I installed Fedora 9 on it. My screen is WXGA++ with a size of 1600x900 pixels. I can see the whole page in my screen, but it seems to be something wrong with it. For example, pictures on the internet are extremely wider than the real size. I've searched for it and configured my xorg.conf file in /etc/X11 folder. But no change. Here is my xorg.conf file: # Xorg configuration created by system-config-display Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "single head configuration" Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0 InputDevice "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard" InputDevice "TouchPad" "CorePointer" EndSection Section "InputDevice" # keyboard added by rhpxl Identifier "Keyboard0" Driver "kbd" Option "XkbModel" "pc105" Option "XkbLayout" "us" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "Monitor0" ModelName "LCD Panel 1600x900" HorizSync 31.5 - 74.7 VertRefresh 56.0 - 65.0 Option "dpms" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "Videocard0" Driver "vesa" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Videocard0" Monitor "Monitor0" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Modes "1600x900" "1600x1200" Viewport 0 0 Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "synaptics" Identifier "TouchPad" Option "SendCoreEvents" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mouse0" Option "Protocol" "event" Option "SHMConfig" "on" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on" Option "Buttons" "7" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true" Option "LeftEdge" "1700" Option "RightEdge" "5300" Option "TopEdge" "1700" Option "BottomEdge" "4200" Option "FingerLow" "25" Option "FingerHigh" "30" Option "MaxTapTime" "180" Option "MaxTapMove" "220" Option "MinSpeed" "0.06" Option "MaxSpeed" "0.28" Option "AccelFactor" "0.0020" Option "VertScrollDelta" "100" Option "HorizScrollDelta" "430" Option "EmulateMidButtonTime" "75" Option "EdgeMotionUseAlways" "1" EndSection Please help me fix the problem. |
Your system is currently using the vesa driver which is not capable of the resolution you want/need to use.
What graphics chip in in your laptop ? please post the output of the following commands so we know what we are working with. uname -a lspci |
Code:
[arabbani@localhost ~]$ /sbin/lspci -nn |
oooops, I forgot to post the result of uname -a:
Code:
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.26.5-45.fc9.i686 #1 SMP Sat Sep 20 03:45:00 EDT 2008 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux |
I searched and installed my graohic card driver, ATI.
Now I can see images with their real size. But still there is another problem. And that is when I go to the Display Window, it says that myscreen resolution is "1360x768". The ratio is same as "1600x900" and because of the same ratio I can see everything correct. Can I have the "1600x900" resolution in my Fedora?? Maybe I want to see HD Movies!!!:D:D:D:D:D |
What an odd resolution your system chose. You should be able to get 1600x900.
what does your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file look like ? |
