You may need update your xorg.conf for the actual graphics card you have or possibly download some additional drivers. Sounds like the installer punted to VGA resolution so you would at least see something.
If you tell us what distribution of Linux you installed and also what graphics card it has, someone may be able to assist you. For future reference, saying "I'm using HP" is like saying "My computer runs on electricity". It doesn't help at all. Doing a Google search that includes your Linux distro, your computer model and graphics card info will probably turn up quite a bit of information that you might find useful. |
thank you for your help...ahm,,,im using hp pavilion n5415...sad to say i didn't know wat kind of vga card this laptop has...can you help on how would i know on wat kind of graphic card my LC has?

Hi
I have the same problem as ynael. I tried Ubuntu, Kubuntu and now Xubuntu, but keep running into the same 800x600 problem. I have been googleling for 2 days and I do mean 48 hrs. I have had very little sleep. This is like an obsession, there has to be a solution to this.I have read about SAX2 and Bullet Proof X, but being totally new at this I haven't been able to resolve this issue. I have a Toshiba Satellite A-20 PSA 20C 02HKQP with a Trident CyberAladdin-P4 V.6.4612.22ICD_SE_NP. If someone has a solution, I would need detailed step by step instructions as I am a "Total Newbie", but I do want to make the switch. I have had enough with Microsoft. Sorry for the long posting but I am desperate. Thank You in advance. trengag ex XP user!!! |
Please tell us which is the display card of your computer .....

The native resolution is 1024x768 and it's pretty much an old video card with 8MB of video memory.
Perhaps it is this one? http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Hewlett-...415-F3931HRABA I couldn't find any product specification in the HP Support website. |
