Screen dims when it should brighten and brightens when it should dim
Hi,
I have a hp zv5000. On all kernels I have used on this computer, the screen brightness seems to be "backwards" in regard to the power supply. When I unplug the AC adapter, the screen brightens, when I plug in the AC adapter the screen dims. Does anyone have any idea how to change this? Thanks, Brian |
it seems the problem is either with the acpi device drivers or the power-save-settings (if acpi is correctly detecting the hardware)...
can you find the powersave settings in kde... if they are available then this means that acpi is correctly detecting the hardware...then just check is these settings are correctly configured.... if u cant configure powersave settings..then this means that acpi is not correctly configured... use modprobe to insert the acpi modules and try again.. let me know if this helps.. regards, rajan |
Hi,
All the powersave options are available to me. (BTW, I use gnome). Brian |
Hi,
This worked on my laptop, see if it works with yours. Manually adjust your screen brightness while the laptop is plugged in. Then unplug it. After the screen brightness changes, manually adjust the brightness to what you want it to be when running on batteries. These brightness levels should now be used as defaults whenever the laptop changes to battery and back to ac power. Hope this helps, Sam |
Thank you, samstar. All okay here now.
