Samsung netbook NF210 Boot problems on dual install (Win7/Ubuntu)
Hello
I have a Samsung netbook NF210 running Win7 and Ubuntu. It has been running successfully for some months. I installed the Ubuntu after and alongside the Win7. I recently rebooted into Windows and the Samsung recovery solution started. I didn't know how this would treat my linux partitions so I cancelled that.
Since then the machine is on a startup loop: Samsung splash -> screen with blinking cursor -> black screen -> repeat. Yuck.
The machine doesn't come with Win7 install discs, and I didn't make a recovery one. I have tried using the ones provided by neosmart, but they don't seem to be helping yet.
I have run a ubuntu live from usb stick.
It seems similar to this situation below but has different origin and furthermore the Win7 recovery disc doesn't work
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...etbook-864939/
I don't really understand boot processes/grub (to the extent I don't even understand where the grub is, and what starts it). (for example which of the partitions should be marked as boot, - it was /dev/sda1 - and could/should there be more than one eg the recovery partition or the linux partition?) I am happy to ferret about but don't know where to begin to get a dual system functioning again (unfortunately i do need both OS).
Your help would be very much appreciated!

Notebooks normaly have a partition in the hard drive that is the installation disk for your windows, and when you start that recovery thing, what it does is to erase your disk but not that partition to install from scratch your windows. Im sorry but if you started that and let it go for a bit and then you stopped it, then unfortunately it did erase your hard drive. Now if you still have that recovery available just let that run all the way to reinstall your windows and you will have to reinstall your Linux as well.

Thanks ukiuki,
Actually things are not as bad as you suggest - I have used a live distro and can see that my linux partitions are still intact, and as far as i can tell so are my windows ones (I did not make this clear in my original post) - but obviously something around the boot matter is corrupt.

here is the output form boot_script_info
nothing obviously wrong to me... but then apart from the glaringly obvious I wouldn't see it!

Is it always trying to boot in recovery mode? On a second thought looks like it maybe something in the BIOS.
