Samsung N145 netbook with Fedora14 scrolling problem

Hi all,
I installed Fedora 14 (KDE) on my Samsung N145 netbook and it's running well except for a weird touchpad scrolling issue - the right vertical scroll does not work, which is very annoying.

Under KDE system setting->touchpad->scrolling I have vertical and horizontal scrolling enabled but only horizontal works Movement and tapping also works fine.

BTW I don't have an xorg.conf file and vertical scrolling works on Win7 starter so it's not a hardware problem.

Any idea where to start looking to enable vertical scrolling?

try the synaptics mouse driver. Some distros also set this in hal, would you believe. Search this site for the words 'scrolling mouse hal'

Thanks for those links. I'm going through them as well as using google and trying to learn about hal and synaptics config which will take me a while.

Below I posted the relevant part of Xorg.0.log. Is there anything unusual there? Remember, my problem is only that vertical edge scroll doesn't work at all.

I found out that Fedora14 doesn't use hal.
I'm wondering why it loads the touchpad as /dev/input/event5 and then /dev/input/mouse0. Also what is "evdev" ?

@xandercage17 - Alot of those links refer to a tip/solution to "rmmod psmouse; modprobe psmouse imps" However there is no module psmouse loaded on my system.

Perhaps someone with an elantech touchpad could post a copy of their /var/log/Xorg.0.log. It would also be great to hear from other Samsung netbook owners, particularly with the N150.

I made some progress. I was able to vertical scroll for the first time by using synclient and changing RightEdge from 1099 to 800.
Still have a lot of learning ahead of me.

I know this thread is from January but I got here through Googling and I wanted to say as a relative noob to Linux (Ubuntu 11.04) this solution worked perfectly for me.

Anyone else needing assistance with this should check out this page:
