s5200n dothan speedstep, can't get it to work on debian.

Hello,
i'm quite new to linux, so it is possible i'm making big making big mistakes.

I've been trying to get cpufreq working, and i have been failing miserably.

when i tried to compile a 2.6.8 kernel with a config from someone else with an s5200n, /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/ is empty, and any program like cpufreqd of powernowd fails to find the cpufreq or something like that.
I tried multiple configs from the internet, and i tried altering them too, but i didn't get it to work.
I also patched the kernel with the cpufreq-speedstep-dothan-3.
patch, which didn't make much of a difference.

I hope anyone can tell me how i can get it to work.
You'll probably need more info to be of help, but i don't know what, so just ask.

thx.

ok, i got it to work.
I tried modprobe speedstep_centrino before i had used the cpufreq-speedstep-dothan-3.
patch, and back then it did not work.
with this patch however, it loaded.
i'm so happy
happy happy.
now i guess i'm going to reinstall debian cause i must have damaged some shit with my experimental and suicidal behaviour.
And when it's running properly, i can finaly sit back and learn some things about linux.
