root password problem


I am trying to install redhat linux version 9.0 in my notebook which the brand is inspiron 5100.

After i setup the swap and ext3 partition and the lilo section, i encounter problem with the administrator root password, that thing setup is not allow me to type the root username and the password which also not allow me to click Next Button.

I have try it for several time at my notebook and try it at my friend's pc, but everything works find on my friend's pc.

anyone have experience please help me on this, coz i need that linux for my school assignment.

Welcome to LQ.

What error does it give below the password boxes? Have you tried using a really simple password like "password" just to see if it will get passed that screen?

oh..for that problem, the form that allow me to type the username and passsword is invisible, which eg: like at the web site there, you can't type anything when that form is visible (grey color).

I feel that problem is wired seems it did not happened to my friends.

It does sound odd. Try running setup in text mode and see if that helps.

do you know how to run at the text mode?

coz i am newbie, and not sure about those command.
