I am trying to install RH9 on my Laptop (an Airis 1.1Ghz PIII with SiS chipset). After booting up with the CD whatever option I choose (text, GUI) it always ends up displaying a rather pretty - but useless - display consisting of multicoloured pixels randomly all over the screen, eventually the display ends up all white, but no information can be seen. I have used the Linux Lowres, Linux resolution 800x600, vga=ask and vga=2 but nothing seems to work.
howbout... linux=text or install=text? There should be a text mode install. After that good luck with getting the display to work? Or switch to Mandrake or Suse for better laptop support.

Yeah, I've been a very big RH 9.0 fan since it came out; however, I had an annoying problem with it and my Hp laptop. In essance, RH 9.0 won't load on it. (No display support, or sound, or nic, or...) So, I downloaded Mandrake 9.1, and installed it. It loaded up on a laptop that accourding to everyone else won't run Linux. (and everything, including ACPI, firewire, wireless, etc. works!) So, I suggest you try that. If you need any help with the install, I'm more than happy to guide you through it.
Tried Mabdrake 9.1 (came on magazine DVD) and it worked with no problems! Even managed to connect to the internet via a wireless network using Proxy+ on the Windows XP server within minutes, even recognised the shared printer on the server - excellent!
