RH9 / IBM T30 / Smart Link Modem dialling exta digit

I have Redhat 9 (2.4) dual booting with XP on an IBM T30 laptop. I picked up quite early that there were a number of problems with "Winmodems" and linux in general, but following some excellent advice in these forums I tracked down the Smart Link Drivers (2.7.14), successfully completed my first ever compile (!) and installed them.

I now have Redhat recognizing the modem and dialling up my provider. However, no matter what I try it keeps duplicating the last digit on the phone number. For example, if my providers' number was 0808 12345 the modem would dial 0808 12345<pause>5. I've tried slowing down the dial speed, adding pauses without much success.

Has anyone else come across this? Am I missing something?!

BTW, I am a complete "newbie"!!

Steve

What program are you using to dial? wvdial? If you do not use it I suggest you give it a try as it is an easily configurable command line dialer. Type 'man wvdial' in a console for more info on setting it up.
It is probably easier to solve wvdial problems then problems relating to some distro related dialer.

Thumbs up

2.7.10 drivers seemed to have fixed the problem! Thanks,
