Hi,
I have Dell inspiron8600, SuSe 9.1 (kernel 2.6.5-7.100). There is powersaved running.
If I send the notebook into standby mode, everything is ok (led blinks). But after pressing power button, the led of hdd onetime blinks and nothing happends. The display is empty - black.
Any ideas please? Thak You

I heard somewhere else that standby on Dell laptops doesn't work...

Try killing the X-Server:

[alt] [ctrl] [backspace]

See if that gets you to a console login, if not, then try:

[alt] [ctrl] [f2] (or any function key from 2-6)

and see if that gives you a command prompt login. From there log in as root and send the machine to runlevel 5 with:

init 5

and see if that works...

If not, I'm stumped. I have never used standby on my Dell c640...
