Resolution Problems w/ SuSE 9.1 on Dell Inspiron 1100
I cannot for the life of me seem to be able to set my resolution correctly. I can't get it to recognize what my display is, and as a result I am left with a 640x480 resolution in a small center-of-screen box. Anybody know what I can do to fix this?
I'm somewhat of a Linux novice, so if you know what I can do, be as detailed as possible, please. Thanks in advance! |
Are you using XFree86? If so, you probably need to manually edit your XF86Config file. As a guess, I'd say that it sounds like there's something amiss there. (Probably in the Monitor Section, HorizSync and VertRefresh; in the Screen Section, display subsections.)

i845 display
It might be easier to download the A29 bios patch from dell. It contains a fix for the memory allocation errors in the previous
ver and does not require a lot of working knowledge to install. It worked wonders on my dell 1100 (1024*728@24 bit color) this suse 9.1 looks pretty good now. LOL :) |

dell display
have you used yast under hardware> graphics cards and monitors to selected the dell 1024X laptop display, and reset the res 1024X768 that should fix your display. as per your geometry
the manual states 287mm x 216mm for a 14.1' and 306 x 230 for a 15' . hope it works LOL |
