redhat wont load on TC1000 Compaq

I tried several option and default options etc.
The laptop boots up and the process wipes out my disk and begins to load Redhat but says incompatible for architecture or some msg like that. It then tells me to reboot.

When I boot the laptop now it says no OS.

Why wont it load?

I was able to use the same CD to load a 386 and a 486 system just fine.

Help...

What version of Redhat are you trying to install?

It would also help to know the exact error message.

preparing transaction from installation media
There was an error running your transaction, for the following reasons(s): packages for incorrect arch

Have you tried updating your bios? I couldn't load Ubuntu on my compaq V5000 until I installed updated Bios. I had to open mine up and get the information needed for update from the back of the motherboard itself.

You are trying to install a version of linux that was compiled for hardware other than that which you have.
Eg you are trying to install a 64-bit kernel on 32-bit hardware or a kernel built for a PPC machine on an X-86.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compaq_TC1000 : The TC1000 is a hybrid Tablet PC designed by Compaq, before it was purchased by HP. It used the Transmeta Crusoe processor.
And see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transmeta_Crusoe#Crusoe

I think you'll need a specially compiled distribution for this hardware
