Question redhat-network-conifg error 2

Should be simple but can not find answer........

I have just installed the soft modem software for my HP NX 7010 laptop, it seems to be installed correctly as the modem shows up in the hardware browser. 'AC '97 etc etc.....

It did not before the software and drivers were installed.

When I config a new Internet connection the computer can not find any modems attached to system. When I manually config the modem with settings given by software it does not work. When trying to activate I get

'redhat-network-config error 2'

Does any body know what 'error 2', is ?

Thanks for help could leave Windows behind if I could get this modem working.

I never heard about AC'97 beeing a modem... It's an audio device/protocol.
Is it a PCI modem? Then lspci as root in a terminal should reveal him.

It's a Agere Systems AC '97 modem. It is PCI I presume, I think that most Campaq/Hp laptops have them.

I will try the 'lspci'

Thanks.
