LinuxQuestions.org - red tint on sager notebook under X

I have a sager notebook with a LCD monitor and nvidia 8600GT and its running 32 bit gentoo. The problem is that starting last night I noticed that my Eterm font which is normally grey is tinting to red, and that my fluxbox menu which normally has white characters are tinting red after the machine has been on a whle.

I have had a problem before of a monitor displaying yellow characters on an old desktop and changing the vga cable fixed it. The problem here is that its a laptop under warranty still so I do not want to open it up.

It is also strange because this behavior only exhibits itself when Xorg is loaded. If I kill X, the console is the full and bright normal white. When I had the problem with the old machine, both Xorg and console were displaying yellow.

This laptop does not dual boot so I cannot check under windows. Is it possible that it is a problem with Xorg or the nvidia drivers or is it only hardware? I dont want to have to send the laptop in if its only software but that seems strange.
