Question Red Hat Linux 9 questions

I just did a dual boot on Windows XP and Red Hat Linux 9..and it works fine. I did a presonal desktop installation. I think the front-end that I see now is the GNOME...and I tried to install KDE from Add/Remove Applications...but it gives me error. Also...the same problem when I am trying to install packages like Web server, software development tools for Perl etc...
Is it because that I opted for Personal desktop installation as opposed to others?
Also...it doesn' detect DVD's.
Can anyone plz provide some info on these issues? Thanks.

In the Add/Remove Applications section there is an option that says :

Development Tools
These tools include core development tools such as automake, gcc, perl, python and debuggers

When I tried to install them it shows a table like this:

Unlocatable Package-----------------Required By
krb5-libs = 1.2.7-10--------------------krb5-devel
openssl = 0.9.7a-2---------------------openssl-devel

I tried installing KDE desktop and Webserver tools, and it installed them fine...it even aked me to insert the relevant Red Hat CD's and when I did. the installation went smooth. Only for this Development Tools option, it shows me this error. Do you know what's goin on here?
