Question Red Hat 9 on Presario x1000

Has anyone gotten RH9 on a presario x1000.
I have the 1.3 centrino with ATI9200 32meg version. When I went to install it went through everything then the screen went blank. I restarted the machine and it can not find the monitor. Should I try reinstalling. I am not sure what to do. I don't know linux. I am trying to make this my primary OS if I could get past the install. I love the power and tools I can use for security and sys admining 2000 boxes.

Thanks

Try Suse Linux for a laptop. It may need some of the more advanced kernel features, and suse has them compiled and enabled by default. Mandrake may be a second good choice.

I second the advice of Caeda about SuSE. I have SuSE 8.2 on my Presario 2170US. Installation was a breeze. Be sure to go into the BIOS and disable legacy USB support before you start.
