recommended Netbook distro for an HP mini 110-3130NR
Hello everyone,
I just purchased a netbook yesterday and obviously want to install linux on it as the OS as opposed to having windows 7. I downloaded ubuntu netbook remix and tested by running it off the USB on my HP mini 110-3130NR and was dissapointed to see that the wireless card was not detected which sucks. anyone have any recommendations for a NETBOOK SPECIFIC variant of linux for this type of netbook or one that works well with HP minis? thanks, |
Ubuntu is as good a choice as any. :) A quick Google search shows me that your netbook has a Broadcom wireless card. These cards are very popular and should work in any Linux distro you choose; all you need to do is download and install the Broadcom STA driver. It is a quick (5 minutes) and painless procedure, but you'll need to temporarily plug your netbook into a wired (ethernet) internet connection.
Instructions for Ubuntu here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Wi...Driver/bcm43xx (be sure to follow instructions for "b43/STA hybrid" and not "b43.") |
