Received a used netbook want to reset factory settings but need to remove Ubuntu .

I recently purchased a used netbook - AUSU Eee PC 1015 PE - they had installed Ubuntu as a second operating system - I want to give this netbook to my son but I want to reset EVERYTHING to the factory settings. This machine can reset pretty easy but I can't get it to work for me. So I thought maybe is was the Ubuntu that was in the way... I went to Windows 7 - uninstalled Ubuntu, rebooted and it is still there, I then booted Windows 7 again and searched in programs and can not find Ubuntu. So now what? I have tried to press the F9 key as directed and nothing happens.
I do see a few different versions of Ubuntu on the boot up menu as well as Windows 7, Windows Vista
I want to uninstall Ubuntu, reset factory setting, and reinstall Ubuntu - That's it! Before my son's b-day on the 19th!! :)
Any help, suggestions is GREATLY appreciated!
Thank You!

If you want to reinstall Windows and remove Ubuntu, then you need to use the Vista install disc and just partition/format the entire drive. Some netbooks have a hidden partition that contains a complete drive image that you can use to replace whatever is installed on the drive, check your documentation to see if the Eee has one and how you can access it.

However, this really isn't an Ubuntu issue at all, since there is nothing you can or need to do from the Ubuntu side to facilitate this. If you are having problems installing Vista, you would be better off asking about it in a Windows-centric forum.

The main OS is Win 7 and in order to reset to factory setting I have to hit the F9 key at the beginning when the Asus logog comes up but it automatically opens Ubuntu instead - so that is why I need to remove Ubuntu. I tried to remove Ubuntu the way suggested - through Windows BUT it is still there so is there another way?
I will seek a Windows forum and poss an ASUS one - but if you can help with removing Ubuntu I would love the help - and I hear it is pretty easy to reinstall which I am willing to do.
Thanks!

You need to remove the Ubuntu bootloader, which you would do through the Windows installer. Ubuntu cannot create a new Windows bootloader, it needs to be done through Windows itself.

Here is a forum post about reinstalling the bootloader with the Windows 7 DVD.

I just found an old post from ubuntuforums.org back in Dec that made since - there is Win 7 and Win Vista and it seems that Vista is the recovery part - and not another OS. So I will check out Ubuntu and see what it is like after the recovery is complete. Thanks Again!

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1642835 is the post that helped.
