Problem with Orinoco Gold pcmcia card

Hello!

First of all... You have to excuse my english.

My problem is that i can't get my wireless pcmcia network card to work in Fedora Core 3.
I've read a lot of different articles on internet and tried a lot of things.
I've tried to turn of ACPI in the grub config file
I've tried to manually load the orninoco, orinoco_cs and hermes modules with modprobe.

If I try to restart the pcmcia serviec i get "Starting PCMCIA services: cardmgr[5650]: open_sock(socket 2) failed: Bad file descriptor"

Hardware facts.
Computer: Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E-6540
Linux Kernel: 2.6.9-1.667
OS: Fedora Core 3
Wireless Card: Proxim Orinoco GOLD 8480-WD

ANY IDEA??

/Daniel

You have fallen victim to naming and branding confusion. Even though the ORiNOCO brand is used on the 8480, it does not use the same chipset as the original card nor does it use the orinoco_cs driver.

Your card is based on the Atheros chipset. http://madwifiwiki.thewebhost.de/wiki/MadWifi
