problem to install grub on macbook aluminium

i've installed ubuntu on /dev/sda3 and /dev/sda1 /dev/sda2 belongs to osX, HSF and backup partition.
I've installed refit and it shows me two pinguins.
when i press one boot linux from HD it shows me just word GRUB in top of the screen and that's it. It doesn't reach even stage1.
I tried to install GRUB again, using live cd and chroot to /dev/sda3 and without doing that
grub keeps telling me something about that drive and BIOS. And when i try find /boot/grub/stage1 i get error that file doesn't exist.
What could be wrong there?

Most likely the menu.lst drive order does not correspond to BIOS drive order. Could you post your /boot/grub/menu.lst file and also list how the BIOS describes each drive?

grub> root (hd0,2)
grub> setup (hd0,2)
Checking if "/boot/grub/stage1" exists... yes
Checking if "/boot/grub/stage2" exists... yes
Checking if "/boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5" exists... yes
Running "embed /boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 (hd0,2)"... failed (this is not fatal)
Running "embed /boot/grub/e2fs_stage1_5 (hd0,2)"... failed (this is not fatal)
Running "install /boot/grub/stage1 (hd0,2) /boot/grub/stage2 p /boot/grub/menu
.lst "... succeeded
Done.
