Hi there !

If the installation in textmode helps, this can mean:
- you have not enough RAM memory to run gfx install and yast
somehow does not recognize it (192mb or something like this)
- Your RAM Memory can be corrupted - run memory test from the boot
CD/DVD to see if this is the case (if yes you should replace RAM)

If, however, text mode still does not help - try ACPI/LAPIC
options, what - in my opinion THIS is your problem.

You can go to:

http (colon-slash-slash) www (dot) opensuse (dot) org

and type in the search field "LAPIC ACPI". Try out options from the article, which will come up as search effect.

Laptops depend on ACPI much more than desktop computers,
I hope this will help you.

At least lack of memory is not a problem, but the memory corruption is very often the case. Try it out. I don't think that text mode installation will change anything, but it's always worth trying!

To install SUSE in textmode press F3 or F2 on the first boot screen
(blue GRUB with 6 options) Among about 6 different frame buffer resolutions you shoud see VESA mode and TEXT MODE. Choose text-mode than and press enter. Don't forget tuning ACPI support with the following options if you fail to install over textmode:

http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Kernel_Pa..._for_ACPI/APIC

Alternativ "textmode=1" as kernel parameter makes you install
in textmode.
