Printing with Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator

I have a Toshiba Portege 4010 laptop attached to a Toshiba Advanced Port Replicator. A HP Laserjet 5P printer is attached to the port replicator via a parallel port connection (the laptop itself has no parallel port but the replicator "gives" it a parallel port.)

I have tried several versions of Linux on this computer but only one picks up the printer at all - Xandros Desktop 3.0.

My question is: how can I extract the necessary information about the printer setup from the Xandros installation and use it to configure the printer in the same way in other distributions that don't detect it automatically? I would much prefer to run Suse or Mandriva or Ubuntu on this machine, but they don't detect the printer, only Xandros does.

Any ideas about what to look for to extract the printer information from Xandros would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance!
