Angry PCMCIA wireless card on Sony Picturebook

Im running Red Hat 9.0 on a sony picturebook. I bought a new Dlink DWL 650. I have a laptop running with the old DWL 650 and with a patch it works. However I don't think the new DWL 650 is a prism2 card.

I've also heard that there is a bug in RH9 that creates a bogus directory which prevents PCMCIA wlan from working and no patch is needed to get wireless working if the directory is removed ???

Any Ideas?
