Hello Board!
This is my first post on LQ. I am a long time Linux user and I am having a major problem with Kernel 2.6.8.1 and my PCMCIA cards.
I have a Compaq Presario 1516US. And it works great with kernel 2.4.26. I can get PCMCIA sockets to work fine. Except my new wg511t (no drivers installed yet). But my Compaq wireless and my old MA401 (until I stepped on, it worked fine).
I compiled Kernel 2.6.8.1, and I have all of the same features I compiled into 2.4.26, plus the added support for the new features like the new PRISM wan drivers, and ALSA. But most of all I want the new and improved laptop mode.
When I boot Kernel 2.4.26 it says Cardmgr[73] and finds the PCMCIA cards correctly. Cardctl ident shows the cards name and information.
When I boot Kernel 2.6.8.1 it says Cardmgr[980] and says no socket found.
when I run lsmod, yenta_socket is installed, but it doesn't locate any PCMCIA settings.
This is driving me nuts, if anyone can help please reply to this or mail me at
