pcmcia core fails to load( and I can't find the message in dmesg? )
I'm using an old Thinkpad 600E running the latest Debian. It doesn't have an internal NIC so I use a PCMCIA card. The other day I tried plugging in a wifi NIC and my PCMCIA core has stopped working since. Whenever the computer turns on it says a message about the PCMCIA core failing but I can't find it in dmesg when I search for it!

A little more info:
modprobe pcmcia yields "modprobe: Can't locate module pcmcia" cardctl status yields "no pcmcia driver in /proc/devices" |
Another update:
The message is being originated by one of the two following scripts(maybe they are linked?) /etc/init.d/pcmcia /etc/rc1.d/K20pcmcia They seem to be the exact same script when I run say "./etc/init.d/pcmcia start" I get "Starting PCMCIA services: Error: Failed to load pcmcia_core" Does anyone have any suggestions for which way to take this problem? Manually loading, resetting a certain config file? Anything? |
