Pcmcia card works, but pccardctl does not

Hi. I have been having problems with my laptop hanging when it goes into suspend on battery power. I noticed that the pcmcia card didn't shut off when it went int osuspend, and I thought this might be the problem. TO fix this, I recompiled pcmciautils. I have yenta socket support in my kernel. Now,my pcmcia card works, but it still does not shut off and
Code:
pccardctl ident
shows that nothing is detected.

How does it show that? What's the exact output you get?

Here's what I experience with FC2 on a Dell Laptop.
Initially, cardctl ident gives this error:
Code:
open_sock(): No such device
First I need to modprobe yenta-socket -- maybe compiled this into your kernel and don't need to insert modules. Now I get:
Code:
Socket 0:
  no product info available
Socket 1:
  no product info available
Socket 2:
  no product info available
Next I need to run cardmgr which replies,
Code:
cardmgr[30857]: watching 3 sockets
And finally, cardctl ident works:
Code:
Socket 0:
  no product info available
Socket 1:
  no product info available
Socket 2:
product info: "Dell", "TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card", "Version 01.01", ""
  manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002
  function: 6 (network)
It's true, there are no cards in either slot. It seems that socket 2 is some internal, permanently installed card. Maybe a wireless network card? I never got it to work.

BTW, yenta-socket used to be inserted automatically, and cardmgr, which runs at boot, succeeded, so I didn't have to do any of this manually. I don't know how I broke it. I posted about this before.

Hi. I do not use cardmgr since I upgraded to pcmciautils becuase they are newer,so I use pccardctl. When the laptop is plugged in,the suspend works fine and the pcmcia card shuts off. However, when it runs on battery the pcmcia card stays on which I think is causing it to hang. Pccardctl handels the suspending of the pcmcia cars,so I did
Code:
pccardctl ident
and I get
Code:
Socket 0:
  no product info available
Socket 1:
  no product info available
even though the pcmcia card works. Yenta is compilied into the kernel, which is why I think the card itself works. The issue I'm having is that the card doesn't suspend if the laptop is unplugged.

EDIT:Okay, the reason pccardctl ident won't give me info is because it is a cardbus card. However,I still can;t get the card to suspend which is why the laptop hangs when suspended. I'm not sure what to do.
