opensuse 11.2 - Compaq CQ60 207EL wifi button

Hi guys,
I'm an owner of this laptop: Compaq CQ60 207EL, with opensuse 11.2 on It.
I have a problem with the wifi card button:
even if It works correctly (not everytime), the button's light is always red as if the wifi card is turned off.

If is not possible to make it work correclty, I need a way to disable the wifi card (or the wifi net search) because of the battery lasting time.

Thanks for everything!

openSuSE 11.2 ... ok , what about desktop environment ? kde or gnome ?
if it is kde, then Wifi enable/disable can be managed through knetwork manager located at the tray . right click on knetwork manager, diable wireless, enable wireless options will be available.

For a compaq you can do something more...
install drivers through Yast.
YAST->Hardware->keyboard layout-> set type as compaq ***

There are 4 different types of compaq keyboard layouts. select your model. then you can use every fn key shortcuts, wifi button ... etc.

I'm using kde, so: if I disable wifi lan from the system tray in Knetworkmanager, is the wifi-card turned off? Will my battery discharge slowly ?

I looked on yast for the "keyboard layout" setting but I couldnt find It, so I typed "yast2 keyboard" from root terminal but the only feature I can set is the language of the keyboard, nothing like "compaq.." .

I haven't the xorg.conf in /etc/X11, I have only xorg.conf.install. In this last one, I don't have the "serverFlags".

I obtained the xorg.conf file by doing "sax -r" from root.
So I modified It like said but I still don't have the Keyboard Layout Module.
Seatching on opensuse forum I've found that the only way to change keyboard layoyt in 11.2 is with regional language settings. Since sax2 was droppen is no longer possibile to change settings as in the past.
