Omnibook XE2 & X display restore problem


Running Slackware 10.2 on an Omnibook XE2. Everything seems to work well EXCEPT when logging out of an X session the console display doesn't return, nor can I bring up the other consoles unless I use the three finger salute. Using 2.4.31 kernel with framebuffer display, X is using vesafb and KDE. The machine starts up fine and X operates with no problems or distortion,

It could be your video card causing a problem. What video card does it use?

It's a Silicon Motion SM710 Lynx, integrated into the HP subsystem. The HP documentation says it is VESA compliant, so I'm surprised the thing is having problems.
