OLD A$$ LAPTOP! 50mhz, 8megs of ram, only floppy, need distro.. cant find!
I told my friend that I would put linux on an ancient laptop he had. He erased WIndows 3.1, and now he wants linux. So I knew there were floppy distros, but they all need an OS to run it on. I dont have one on the comp. And it only has a floppy so I can't very well install a distro on it. Only a floppy one. Can someone SHOW ME a floppy distro that doesnt take up the whole floppy (or at least fits on one) and can be installed from one? O and I want to be able to add on X (icewm and stuff) and so forth. Thanx in advanced!

well im actualy not too sure how much ram it has, I read online its max is 20, but it never said the minimum it had. I was ASSUMING it had 8, and ill stick with that. Hey look windows 2.0 ran under around 640k of ram. So can linux. Ill just have to make a WM with Java. (thats all I know, with a tad of C++) But whatever. Its a hit or miss.

if you could find a distro small enough... fluxbox may run it...
I'm not sure... if not.. perhaps you could find an upgrade of ram.. I KNOW that flux will run with 16 MB... but i guess you can always try...
Look into something older like slack 4 or something.. I think you can do a floppy install with that...
