Click on the following link for information on using the Sierra Wireless AirCardŽ 555 under linux.

this does not work under suse linux 10 as the pcmcia structure has been totally changed from the earlier versions from pcmcia-cs to pcmciautils and therefore cardmgr is replaced by pccardctl now

Unfortunately, I have no experience with this card and cannot provide a solution. Maybe try using ndiswrapper.

Have you tried using YaST to see if the card is recognized? Once it is recognized, setting it up should be relatively straightforward.
Select K Menu --> Control Center --> YaST2 Modules --> Network Devices --> Network Card. Click on the Administrator Mode button and enter your root password. If your card is recognized, it will be one of the items listed in the next screen. |
1. ndiswrapper did not work with the windows inf file on the driver cd of the card
2. yast sees the card as a network device in hardware detection whereas it is actually modem |

1. it must be a modem since i am required to dial my service provider and enter a username and password using kppp as the dialer which is what i did in other linux distros like debian
2. it is incorrect according to the manufacturers website to see it as a network device since it is actually a qualcomm 3g cdma modem 3. is it possible to remove pcmciautils and use pcmcia-cs in suse 10 since that might work 4. or is it not possible to use pcmcia-cs on suse 10 since pcmciautils is already installed |
i will have to completely remove suse linux as i cannot get the card to work
